Check out the creative towers Charleston County School District 7th grade students from Jerry Zucker Middle School Of Science built during a #STEAM (Science, Technology Engineering, THE ARTS, & Math) project-based learning assignment this week in Ms. Anderson’s CTE class – CHALLENGE: Build the tallest Free Standing Tower with 100 toothpicks and gummy candies.
Lt. Middleton spoke with the 5th graders about regarding stand up for what is right and how she got into the law enforcement profession.
Lt. Middleton encouraged students to further their education so that could advance in the law enforcement. She talked about the career prospects and rewards, including average salaries for this profession in our state and nationally.
She covered the following basic ideals:
- Law Enforcement Services workers protect lives and property.
- Law enforcement officers have duties that range from controlling traffic to preventing and investigating crimes.
- They maintain order; enforce laws and ordinances; issue traffic summonses; investigate accidents; present evidence in court; serve legal documents for the court system; and apprehend, arrest, and process prisoners.
