Recently, students in the Nail Technology program at West Ashley High School hosted students from Baptist Hill MHS for a “salon day”.
All the visiting students enjoyed the salon and then got to tour other additional WAHS Career and Technology programs. They drove robots, looked at airplanes, and snacked with Culinary students!
Ms. Helen Shepherd’s Nail Tech classes at West Ashley High School offer students real Hands-on Learning opportunities to best prepare for their future careers.
“It does not get more hands-on than my class”, joked Shepherd.
“In my class, students practice manicure services, paraffin wax treatments, and application of UV gels nails.” Shepherd added.
Her students also recently enjoyed a visit from a skin care technician from Charleston Dermatology.
Her Level I & Level II students also participated in the recent Taste of West Ashley event and showcased their talents – please enjoy these pictures of CTE students in action:
Nail Technicians in training from Ms. Helen Shepherd’s CTE program at West Ashley High School recently visited residents of the Village at Summerville, a Presbyterian retirement community.
The students provided massage, nail care and painting services to residents.
“My students enjoyed the opportunity to serve the residents and practice their skills – the students love these types of community service opportunities.” said Ms. Shepherd on the experience.
