Sen. Tim Scott speaking to students

Sen. Tim Scott delivers the keynote message at the inaugural Opportunity Internships event May 5, 2021 at the recently opened Cooper River Center for Advanced Studies in North Charleston, SC.

Inaugural Opportunity Internships Fair a Huge Success

Thanks to Sen. Tim Scott, and everyone that made the inaugural Opportunity Internships fair possible for students on May 5, 2021.

Over 60 students from Burke High School, Military Magnet Academy, North Charleston High School, and Sen. Scott’s alma mater R. B. Stall High School participated in the career fair event. Students met with  professionals from local companies and organizations with summer internship and employment opportunities available. Some students were offered positions on the spot!

Organizers plan to make the fair an annual event and expand capacity for student attendance as COVID safety protocols evolve.  Special thanks to principal Vanessa Brown and her team at the Cooper River Center for Advanced Studies for hosting this event. And, thanks to the Charleston County School District Office of Strategy and Communications, as well as many other CCSD supporting departments and school administrative teams, for their cooperation in staging this event for our students!
