Camp Road Middle Host Annual Job Shadow Day

Camp Road Middle Host Annual Job Shadow Day

On February 2nd, 2024 Camp Road Middle School hosted their school-wide annual Job Shadow Day. For over a decade Camp Road scholars have been participating in job shadowing to gain a better understanding and hands on experience in a career field of interest.

This year Camp Road had over 700 student participants hosted by over 500 business partners!

Not only is job shadowing is a great 1st step for students to a deeper understanding of a specific career field, it allows scholars to gain experience and observe the
real-life non-textbook version of that career which helps students visualize if they see themselves working in that career field in the future.  Job shadowing helps student rule out careers and focus on other careers they may have a stronger interest in. Job shadowing can also lead to longer career exploration experiences such as internships, apprenticeships, part-time jobs, and even future full-time job opportunities.

A BIG should out and thank you to all business partners for hosting Charleston County School District students for this career exploration experience. Taking time out of your busy schedule is extremely beneficial and impactful to our future leaders. Special shout out to Pet Helpers for hosting 15 Camp Road students and providing a very structured day full of activities.

Thank you to Ms. Erica Ciucci- Camp Road 8th Grade School Counselor/Career Development Facilitator, and her team for supporting and facilitating a school-wide job shadow day.
