March 15-16 Tri-County Career Fair - Employer & School Participation Information


EMPLOYER & WORKFORCE TRAINING PROVIDERS

“Hiring the Class of 2023 and inspiring future classes, including 8th graders about to start high school.”

Thank you for your willingness to empower students from the Trident Region with employment and workforce training programs at our 2 day event! 1500+ students from schools throughout the Charleston area will be arriving at the event on a staggered schedule from 8:30am to 1pm on March 15 & 16.

PRIMARY FOCUS: EMPLOYMENT FOR OUR SENIORS

  • Graduating seniors without a confirmed next step after high school from Berkeley, Charleston, and Dorchester county high schools.
  • Seniors will be identified by special lanyards and they will have their resumes ready to share. They will be graduating in 3 short months from the event.

ADDITIONAL AUDIENCES: UNDERCLASSMEN & VETERANS

  • Students from grades 8th -11th from throughout the region will also be invited to attend both days of the career fair.
  • Veterans are also being invited to attend March 15 from 3 to 5pm.

There is no charge to participate, but sponsorship support to offset the event expenses is greatly appreciated. We are seeking supporting sponsors at $500 each. Please indicate on your willingness to support the event on your registration form. Supporting companies and organizations will be acknowledged at the event, on social media, and in local newspapers for their generous and greatly appreciated investment in the local talent pipeline.
Thank you to our school district leaders from Berkeley, Charleston, and Dorchester counties as well as economic development, workforce training, chambers of commerce, and many others for supporting this regional event! And, huge thanks to the City of North Charleston and the North Charleston Athletic Center for hosting this important and timely event.

SCHOOLS PARTICIPATION INFORMATION

EDUCATORS: Thank you for reviewing these suggested steps in preparing to attend one or both days of this regional event.

  • Over 100 local employers and training providers will be in two large rooms arranged by Career Cluster. The Class of 2023 is the primary audience for this event – Our VIPs! 
  • Employers are very interested in meeting them and brining them into their talent pipeline, as they will be graduating in 3 short months!

The following career clusters aligned with the highest demand employment opportunities in our region will be represented:

    • Transportation & Logistics
    • Hospitality & Tourism

    • Law & Public Safety

    • Business Management & Administration

  1. IDEAL STUDENTS TO ATTEND THIS HIRING FAIR / CAREER FAIR
    Graduating seniors without a confirmed next step after graduation.
    Secondary audience is students in grades 8-11.
    Think about the best way to fill 40 seats on each bus you will be bringing.
  2. CONSIDER WHEN YOUR GROUP WILL ARRIVE 
    Schools can bring students both days, March 15 & 16, between 8:30am and 2pm.
    Schools should plan to stay at the event for @ 1 hour, or longer if needed.
    Schools should make their own lunch plans – cafeterias can typically provide “to go lunches” as needed.

  3. INITIATE FIELD TRIP REQUIREMENTS
    Complete initial required forms & reserve your transportation.
    CCSD Schools: Please utilize the Structured Field Study Toolkit, and transportation funds are pre-approved for this event. (skip step 1)
  4. BUILD ROSTER OF PARTIPATING STUDENTS
    School counselors, career specialists, teachers, and administrators collaborate to determine the students best served with attending this hiring fair
    Some schools will focus on “Not Yet CCR Seniors”. 11th – 8th graders should be selected based on maturity and readiness to maximize this work-based learning event.
  5.  FACILITATE INDIVIDUAL STUDENT REGISTRATIONS

    Awesome prizes, like laptops and other useful tools will be showcased at the event, so students can see what they could win by completing a post event survey, ideally before leaving.
