Aila is a rising 11th grade Military Magnet who  participated in the DigSouth Tech Conference, a premier event focused on technology, entrepreneurship, and innovation within Charleston’s thriving “Silicon Harbor” ecosystem. For the past fourteen years, founder Stanfield Gray has established DigSouth as a transformative platform that brings together global technology leaders, entrepreneurs, and innovators to foster meaningful conversations, build strategic relationships, and inspire new ideas.

This year’s conference theme, Venture & AI, featured a prestigious $1 Million Pitch Competition and the inaugural Accelerate Career Readiness Pitch Competition sponsored by the ATI Foundation. Among a field primarily composed of technical college students, Aila distinguished herself as the only high school participant selected to present her innovative ideas. She designed The ClimateFlex Jacket.  Her participation at this level is a remarkable accomplishment and speaks volumes about her confidence, technical expertise, and entrepreneurial mindset. As an aspiring engineer with a strong foundation in technology, this experience has broadened her perspective and inspired her to explore entrepreneurship as a future pathway.

Aila Ramirez is an exceptional student.  She consistently demonstrates academic excellence, leadership, and a passion for innovation. Earlier this school year, Aila was selected as one of the student representatives and presenters at the Computer Science and STEM Summit, where she effectively showcased her knowledge and served as an ambassador for student achievement in STEM education. In addition, Aila is enrolled in the Engineering Program at the Cooper River Center for Advanced Studies, where she continues to excel in rigorous, college-level coursework.

As Aila enters her junior year, we anticipate even greater accomplishments. She will bring her advanced engineering design and 3D modeling expertise to MMA’s high school robotics team, RoboEagles (#7021), where her skills will play a critical role in our efforts to improve upon our state championship performance and pursue a coveted berth at the World Championship. Aila’s dedication, talent, and leadership position her for continued success, and we are excited to witness the tremendous impact she will undoubtedly make in the years ahead.
